Easelink is one of the most innovative companies in Austria and just received “state prize for innovation – special prize VERENA (VERBUND E-Novation Award) ” from the federal minister for digitalization and economic affairs and Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH.

This is the 40th time that the federal minister for digitalization and economic affairs and Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH honored outstanding innovative achievements by Austrian companies. The purpose of these state prizes is to honor the progress of innovation and business development activities of companies in Austria.

A total of fourteen companies were nominated in three categories. Easelink won the donated special prize VERENA (VERBUND E-Novation Award). The winning project for the Verena powered by VERBUND award aims to honor the company that have carried out innovations in the areas of electricity and energy systems, energy efficiency/management, supply security, grid stability and smart grids, electromobility or the use of renewable energies.

The prize was presented by Wolfgang Anzengruber, Chairman of the Managing Board of VERBUND AG who says “If we want to achieve the goal of climate neutrality and decarbonization, we must also switch from fossil energy to renewable energy in the areas of heating and mobility. Electrical energy will make a fundamental contribution in this respect. This is why we have been supporting innovative scientific projects with the VERENA Innovation Award for 18 years now. The spirit of innovation, know-how and economic power and the close cooperation between science and industry allow us to shape the energy system responsibly. The quality of the submitted projects once again proves how strong the awareness for climate-friendly power generation and use is already now.”

Innovation award

Easelink scored particularly well in the field of electromobility due to the completely new development of the automated conductive charging technology Matrix Charging® for electric vehicles. Mobility is currently dominated by three major trends: vehicle electrification, mobility as a service and autonomous driving. Especially the developments in autonomous driving as well as the desire for more user comfort increasingly require an automated charging technology. The Matrix Charging® system consists of two components: a vehicle unit on the vehicle underbody (Matrix Charging® Connector) and a charging plate in the parking surface (Matrix Charging® Pad). As soon as the vehicle is parked in the parking space above the charging pad, the vehicle is automatically charged through the direct physical connection. Matrix Charging® covers all future charging scenarios: charging at the private garage, at work or at public spaces. To ensure this wide application, Matrix Charging® was developed with a robust and cost-efficient design.

The combination of efficiency, charging power, robustness, automation, use in public and private spaces and national decarbonization strategies speak in favor of the establishment of a nationwide charging infrastructure with Matrix Charging®. Easelink pursues the goal of setting a worldwide standard for automated conductive charging technology.
