Ten years ago, we started with a conviction about where mobility and energy were heading. Today, we look back at something that did not exist before: an ecosystem around Matrix Charging®, shaped by the Easelink team, many partners, our investors and close supporters.
Building a product at the intersection of automotive and energy is a rare opportunity. Helping shape a new industry standard is rarer still. We are grateful to everyone continuously contributing to this.
A vision that held its course
The world has changed dramatically since 2016. Our fundamental belief has not: automated charging is a key technology for the future of mobility and energy. And our vision remains the same: to set a harmonized and interoperable standard for automated EV charging.
This belief rests on three megatrends that are shaping our future: the rise of e-mobility, the transition to a sustainable and resilient energy system and the growth of vehicle autonomy. Each of them leads to the same need: charging must happen automatically, without the driver having to act, connecting EVs whenever and wherever they are parked.
For vehicles, charging installations and the energy system to work together across brands, markets and applications, automated charging needs a common language: a harmonized and interoperable industry standard.
These trends matter even more today than they did ten years ago. The vision stayed constant and became our “North Star”.
From vision to DNA
A vision of a harmonized and interoperable standard needs a technology that many players can adopt and that shaped how we designed Matrix Charging®. The vision led us to a set of design principles, and at their core stands simplicity, which became the DNA of Matrix Charging®.
Proving it in the real world
We built prototypes, ran pilots and took Matrix Charging® out of the lab. Among our proudest milestones are the taxi operations in Vienna and Graz with eTaxi Austria, one of the largest public automated charging projects to date. Across diverse applications, we showed that Matrix Charging® works, and that it can be industrialized, scaled and licensed.
Protecting what we build
Our growing patent portfolio is a core pillar of our technology-licensing model. In September 2026, we filed our 100th patent, a milestone that reflects the expertise, know-how and innovative strength of the whole team.
Stronger together: the Matrix Charging Interest Group
In 2025, the Matrix Charging Interest Group (MCIG) was founded to bring together companies with a strategic interest in the rollout of Matrix Charging®. Its members now include vehicle manufacturers, automotive suppliers, technology companies and players from the energy and infrastructure world.
MCIG aligns Matrix Charging requirements with series development, so implementation choices can be harmonized at the pace of product development. Experience gained along the way feeds into international standardization.
Alongside MCIG, we have built strong customer relationships around the world, and together we are working on defining the interoperable standard.
What lies ahead
The next chapter is about turning industry momentum into market reality. Industrialization, product launches and industry standardization will move forward side by side, and each brings opportunities we can only realize together.
Matrix Charging has grown through the contributions of many. As the ecosystem develops, new partners and perspectives will bring fresh ideas and applications that benefit everyone involved.
