eTaxi Austria Project

Matrix Charging® is currently deployed in the eTaxi Austria project of the cities of Vienna and Graz, the world’s largest pilot project for automated charging. The project aims to demonstrate barrier-free, automated charging points at taxi stands as a key step towards the electrification of urban taxi fleets. The taxis retrofitted with Matrix Charging® are engaged in real-world operations and can charge up automatically at charging points in Vienna and Graz. The insights from the project are transferred to other fleet projects, shared within standardization committees, and serve as valuable inputs for the series production of the Matrix Charging® technology.

Electric vehicles

Two electric vehicle brands have been selected for the eTaxi Austria project: Hyundai IONIQ 5 and VW ID.4. The vehicles get retrofitted with the vehicle component, the Matrix Charging® Connector, directly at workshops of the vehicle brands: Autohaus Bennewitz, Porsche Inter Auto and Vogel+Co.
